Who doesn’t love a festival centered around food? In the Spring, you can attend a three-day celebration of all things strawberry. The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival has crates upon crates of the sweet, yet tart, bright red fruit. You’ll find strawberry shortcake, chocolate-covered strawberries, deep-fried strawberries, strawberry daquiris, strawberry lemonade, strawberry beignets, and fancy-enough-all-on-their-own fresh-picked strawberries.

There’s plenty of other food, too. Try the crawfish Doritos tacos, BBQ, jambalaya, roasted corn, fried okra, or pretty much any meat they have on a stick.

You can also catch a parade and see the reigning Strawberry Royal Court, play games, listen to live music, and take a turn on a carnival ride. The festival is usually held in April. Check their website for the full three-day schedule and see pictures of the reigning royalty.(lastrawberryfestival.com)
