About

Mandeville + Covington + Madisonville + Abita Springs + Lacombe + Slidell + etc.

A self-guided, regional tour of where to eat, festivals and events, antiquing/junking, the Art scene, general fun stuff to do, places to see, and things to chat about for the Northshore Louisiana types. Whew!

Living in a small southern town is a unique experience on its own. But living on the Northshore… Well, it’s small-town southern living amplified. I moved to Mandeville in 2012. Soon I found Old Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, Ponchatoula, Lacombe, Slidell, and so on. All distinct, yet connected.

My goal is to journal my experiences in hopes of 1) being a helpful guide for anyone new to the area, and 2) encouraging others to get out and experience what is going on right next door. And if you think you know where to find the best BBQ (or best snowballs, crawfish, etc.), let me know!

I also want to share the history, folklore, and artful expressions of the people that make this region unique as I learn about them. There is a lot to discover and experience on the Northshore. This site has a companion Instagram page @northshoreloreandrapport that highlights many of the fun and funky items I find while out visiting antique shops. I hope to see y’all out there!

For more information on things to do and places to see on the Northshore check out Inside Northside Magazine and the Northshore To Do website, but not before you like/follow my blog!

Also, Louisiana Northshore has a great website and event calendar that I use regularly.
