In my opinion, the food we eat in Louisiana is some of the best food on this planet- if not THE best. Gumbo, jambalaya, étouffée, boiled crawfish, red beans and sausage with rice, BBQ shrimp, po’boys…the list goes on and on. If thin-fried catfish, potato logs and Boudin balls are on the menu, you know you’re going to be eating well. I grew up with these dishes, and I didn’t fully appreciate them until I left home and saw what other people were eating. I felt sad for them.
I feel it’s my duty to share with visitors and newcomers my favorite places to eat on the Northshore. Whether it’s a fancy steak house or a come-as-you-are local eatery, you’ll find something for whatever you’ve got a hankerin’ for. Y’all know Louisiana has better food at its gas stations than most restaurants in other states, right? And Southern festival food can’t be beat. But here, I’ll focus on the actual eateries, their atmosphere, and what I like about them. So let’s try to answer that evergreen question, “Where do you want to eat?”
